Try a raw smoothie fast for 21 days straight or try cut out dead carcass flesh for 21 days .. these are two common fasts that you can do as a beginner. In this video I’m going to tell you about HOW I eat and why it works. And in my next video I’m going to give you an idea of WHAT I eat on a weekly basis and why. I am not a Nutritionist or Dietician. I’ve been eating the way I do for over 20 yrs now, and it’s just an eating style and pattern that has always worked for me. I’ve never been someone who diets, nor have I ever struggled with my weight. I’m 5’ 3.5” and I weigh 110 lbs. I eat the way I do for 2 reasons. 1. Because I “feel” my best when I eat this way….meaning I have the most energy…and I’m rarely hungry, which means I’m not always thinking about what I’m going to eat next (which leaves you feeling helpless sometimes leads to excessive snacking). 2. Because I have a certain idea or goal in my mind about the way that I want to look, dressed and undressed, and this style of eating has always worked to achieve that goals for me. So what Intermittent Fasting is, is basically an eating pattern where you have about an 8 hour window when you eat, and a 16 hour window when you fast. There is actually scientific and physiological explanations for why it’s a healthy practice and why it is so efficient in keeping energy levels high, weight off and allows you to maintain muscle tone with light exercise. The way that Intermittent Fasting is explained in the literature is that when you begin eating a mea,l or food in general, your body naturally goes into a digestion and absorption phase that can last for 2-5 hours. When your body is actively digesting food it is very difficult for your body to burn fat because insulin levels are high and energy is being used to digest your food. Believe it or not digestion requires a lot of energy, which to me, explained my fatigue after eating breakfast. Now after the 2-5 hours it takes your body to digest the food, typically you’re ready to eat again. So again, you eat and you initiate digestion and absorption phase which requires energy and doesn’t allow for much fat burning since insulin levels are once again high. So there’s 2-5 MORE hours that your body requires to digest your food. After you've eaten your last meal, and after 2-5 hours have passed, your body is no longer processing food. So when your body is no longer processing food, insulin levels begin to drop and your body begins to burn fat. This is the fasting phase. But it doesn’t begin until almost 12 hours after you’ve eaten your last meal. So if you eat your last meal at 8pm, the fasting phase doesn’t begin until almost 8 am. This is when your body is able to burn fat that wasn’t accessible to it during the time your body was preoccupied with digesting the food you’d just eaten. So by not eating breakfast, you are allowing your body to continue to efficiently burn fat, and you're also keeping your energy levels up because your body is not actively using energy to digest your food. One thing about Intermittent Fasting is that it’s not so much considered a “diet” as it is a “pattern” of eating. It has less to do with what you eat and more to do with when you eat. However, that doesn’t mean in your 8 hour window you should be eating whatever you want and as much as you want. Binge eating junk food is just never a good idea for plenty of other reasons. You don’t want to fuel your body with junk that can lead to diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, blood pressure. So many illnesses stem from unhealthy eating habits. I have been putting intermittent fasting into practice for some years now, and it has always helped me burn fat very well. When I first found intermittent fasting it was in an attempt to find out how I could burn the fat that had been on my body forever and finally reveal my six pack abs. I came across a very well-known method that is used heavily today, 16 8. This means that you fast for 16 hours and have an 8 hour eating window to consume all your food for the day. This is the exact intermittent fasting method I used today still, with a slight variation. After experiencing and studying intermittent fasting for many years I would have to say that the reason it works so well is because it increases your growth hormone. The main hormone in your body that is responsible for burning fat. This is where my slight variation comes into play. With that being the key, I only eat 2 meals a day. This gives me the best combination to keep my growth hormone high and my insulin levels low so that I can burn the most amount of fat possible. According to Dr. Berg every time we eat our insulin levels spike shutting off our fat burning hormone which is growth hormone. This is why I believe as do many professional doctors that intermittent fasting and only have two meals a day is a great way to keep your growth hormone high and insulin levels low, so you can burn the most amount of fat possible. If you watch the whole video through, which I hope you do. There are going to be a few key points that are very important to watch for. You will notice that the main staple of my intermittent fasting meal plan is greens. The reasons greens are so darn good and necessary is because they are loaded with micro nutrients, vitamins and minerals. They help you stay full all day long. There low in calories, which is very important for losing weight, because being in a calorie deficit is necessary is you want to lose weight. Also because of the micro nutrients you will notice that your body functions a lot better and you will even see your outward appearance change like having clearer skin. Put this intermittent fasting meal plan into practice and watch the magic unfold. You don’t necessarily have to eat exactly what I have shown in this video. The main things you want to eat are lots of greens, little bit of fruit, and protein. Keep away from sugar, processed foods, breads and pasta. In this video I cover ideas around intermittent fasting and decision fatigue, willpower, productivity and self-control. In studies (as seen below) they have looked at judges and observed that as the day progresses, judges seem to lose their ability to make consistent rationally grounded decisions hence “decision fatigue”. As the day progresses they become more inclined to make poor choices. The same can be applied to the way we eat, later in the day we crave more junk food. Many people have the issue of snacking late at night and ruining their caloric deficit during these late hours. Intermittent fasting works great because it gives one so much leeway by restricting calories early on. You not only make better decisions from not suffering from decision fatigue but you also give yourself an advantage by having so many calories available later on during the day. Another reason why I think intermittent fasting is very powerful psychological is because it improves so many other areas of your life. Intermittent fasting will improve your mood, your productivity and most importantly WILL POWER and self-control (of course the physiological benefits). Because these benefits are all seen quickly, it becomes difficult to go back to a lifestyle of regular and frequent eating. Once you experience the benefits, reverting back to anything different is too much of a dent in your current boost of progress and achievement and hence a consistency begins to form and furthermore results.
